2 reviews of Golf del Sur
Golf del Sur has 3 sets of 9, the Norte, Sur and Links , and they nominate the 2 courses to be played on a particular day. All of them have good challenging holes. The course can get a bit tatty and the greens can look as though there's been a rugby scrum on them, but overall , for a very busy course, it's not a bad track. Facilities are OK and staff are always very pleasant.
Played this course many times over the last decade, and although a touch expensive when you include the much needed buggy in the price, it's well worth a round. Three nine-hole courses provide a stern test, as i believe the course was used on the European Tour until the mid 90's. I think the only reason it's not still on is the rather small outdoor practice range which wouldn't cope with the facilities needed on the tour these days. Tees are always in good condition, as are the fairways. Greens are superb, receptive when approaching with a short iron, but also fast and true, not a bobble in sight! Lots of elevation changes on all three courses, and black (volcanic) sand bunkers which are tricky to play out of. The course is made even more of a test when the wind blows, which it often does. All in all, always a pleasure to play a course that is well cared for, and provides an excellent test of golf whatever your ability. Prices are cheaper during our summer, as the busiest time of the year on this course is October - March with people escaping to find some sun!
